Lift & Move USA Has Teamed Up With BOSS Crane to Provide a Authentic Career Exploration Experience

Lift & Move USA, featuring career paths for specialized transportation, crane, rigging, and machinery moving operations, is coming to Longview, Texas on October 16, 2019.

Hosted by BOSS Crane & Rigging, Lift & Move USA is organized by the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association, SC&R Foundation, the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators, and KHL, publisher of American Cranes & Transport magazine. Featuring live equipment demonstrations and hands-on learning stations, the one-day event is for high school and post-secondary age students.

“Lift & Move USA engages students and educators in learning about the skills needed and careers available in this highly technical field, serving construction, manufacturing, power gen, Petro-chem, highway, and related industries,” said Tracy Bennett, Director of Lift & Move USA. Entry-level jobs have career trajectories that can lead to well-paying, challenging, and rewarding positions.

“The largest issue facing the crane & rigging industry today is a shortage of skilled labor.   We’re extremely excited to take an active role in helping to educate and encourage individuals pursuing career opportunities in these challenging and rewarding fields. “ said David Cowley, President of BOSS Crane & Rigging, “ I believe this initiative will help to address the surplus of jobs that are available, show that roles in our industry can be well paid and that there is an alternative for all of those people in which college and/or university degrees are not in their future.  It is imperative that young people in our area understand the outstanding career opportunities that await in the crane and rigging industry.”

In addition, education and training grants provided by SC&R Foundation are available for students pursuing skills or certificate programs at technical or vocational schools. Learn more at www.liftandmoveusa.com/grants.html.

“Lift & Move USA works closely with regional contacts affiliated with SkillsUSA and the Association for Career & Technical Education to promote this valuable learning experience to students in the local area. Feedback from CTE instructors who have attended past events is always positive,” said Bennett.
