Perhaps everyone could use a little help with heavy lifting from time to time. And if so, BOSS is there to help.

On Oct. 23, Bennett On-site Services, also known as BOSS Crane & Rigging, located in Longview Texas, held an Open House and Ribbon Cutting to officially celebrate the opening of the business and to show other business owners in the area exactly what the company can do.

More than 100 people attended the day-long event that included a barbecue lunch, a ribbon cutting, and tours of the facility and a peek at some of the cranes that perform the heavy lifting. Members of the Longview Chamber of Commerce were on hand to facilitate the ribbon cutting and business ambassadors also showed up to support one of the county’s newest ventures. In addition, dignitaries including The Honorable Judge Bill Stoudt and Chairman of the Republican Party Tim Vaughn attended the event.

David Lowry, who is vice president of Bennett International Group, president of Bennett Motor Express chief executive officer at BOSS, addressed the crowd.

“We have provided truck services to crane companies and our paths have been linked in many ways for many years,” he said. “We are now very excited to become an official part of this industry.”

BOSS opened its doors with a soft opening in January 2015 and received its first crane a couple of months later in March. Since that time industry veteran David Cowley was snatched out of retirement and named president of BOSS, Jerry Loe, vice president, is on board at BOSS to handle the day to day operations, David Chatelain is director of safety, and the company has a staff of crane operators that Cowley described as “the best of the best.”

“I’ve known them for years,” Cowley said. “We’ve worked together for years and all the management we have here. So it’s not like it’s a brand new business. We all know what we’re doing here.”

Lowry thanked those who came to the event for believing in the vision and having a passion for the success of BOSS.

“Our investment in the latest technology, the newest equipment, safety, along with our experience and professionalism tells me that we will be a success in becoming a leader in this industry.”

BOSS is a division of Georgia-based Bennett International Group, a transportation, logistics, and supply chain provider that celebrated its 40th anniversary in August 2014, led by Marcia G. Taylor. Taylor said that over the last 41 years, Bennett has grown and added companies by fulfilling the needs of its customers.

“We are excited to add BOSS to the existing portfolio of companies and to fill a need in the crane and rigging field,” she said. “BOSS is a great complement to our existing trucking companies and we’re looking forward to serving our new and existing customers.”

The facility is located on a 12-acre tract just a short two blocks from Interstate 20 in Gregg County, Texas and includes approximately 6,000 square feet of office space and an estimated 17,500 square foot shop. With a current fleet of six cranes and a lifting capacity of 110, 165, 350, and 550 tons, BOSS Crane & Rigging is prepared to take on even the most challenging projects. In addition, the company has a current fleet of eight trucks that include flatbeds, step decks, double drop, deck extendable, RGNs, and several that can handle unique heavy hall configurations, and as part of a major transportation company, access to many more trucks should the need arise. The company currently has 25 employees with the potential to add 10 to 12 more employees in the coming year.
